more beer, more wine

Thank you.

Happy Fun Friday everyone..., no recipes today..., just some ultra cool coaster sets via skirt!

You know... I've been to tons of weddings..., some "beer and wine," some "open bar," and some "cash bar..."

What did you do, or plan to do???

We want to know!

bottle torch

You know..., i think i can do this!!!

These look so cool, but the fire aspect of it has me a bit nervous.

I set up the "plant nanny" by myself, but that was just some wine bottles stuck into Terracotta thingys stuck into the soil...

Nothing at all flammable.

Anyway, I thought anyone that was planning a backyard wedding, perhaps, might get some use out of these. I'm also loving the blue color...

Story and directions to be found here at Design*Sponge.

Engageology

Talk about DIY! You should really check out this cool blog I found today called Engageology! The bride goes over "The Science of Getting Married!"

They have tons of money saving tips! And look at the centerpieces the bride's aunt made for them. Under $200, when they had initially allotted over $800 in their budget!

pucker up! (for citrus)

(Via Mama's Getting Married)

Maybe it's all the limes for Cinco de Mayo or maybe it's the dirty blonde cocktails..., maybe it's the cool artwork I just hung in my kitchen by Martha Negley from Art.com...

But I have had such a craving for anything citrus of late!!!! How cool are these wedding pics above??? Totally creative and fun!

Below are some more shots..., so pucker up!

lobster love

(via the knot.com - "The Maine Event")

Hubby took me out on a "date" the other night. A place called Docker's..., it's right on the water and the food is awesome. We had a sitter, we got there before sunset and they had the best dinner special!!! Lobster with mussels, clams, corn... etc. the works.

I have lobster on the brain and can't seem to get rid of it...

Mmmm. I love lobster. Don't want to look 'em in the eye though, but still love them. I found this great photo of the lobster with the wedding bands and the inspiration board (below) for a Lobster Themed Wedding! Aren't they yummy? I think the look is just so fun and fresh!

Now if I could just find my bib and some melted butter!

dylan's candy bar

I had such a fantastic weekend!

Friday night I went out to dinner with an old friend. (see "friends" ) She lives in Brooklyn and I live "Out East" on Long Island, so we met in the middle in Garden City (The Roosevelt Field Mall, to be exact.)

Well, I had some time to kill and I had to find a bathroom so I entered the mall!!! Haven't been there in ages! I got so lost in the maze of "mall-ness"... there was no T.P. in any of the stalls (thank goodness for baby wipes)...

...then I saw it.

Right in front of me was the place I've been dying to go to for a while now.

You like candy? Dylan's Candy Bar was right there! At the mall!!! I only thought it was in the Hamptons or NYC!!!! Turns out they are in HOUSTON AND ORLANDO too.

They offer not only all types of candy, but stuff you haven't seen in years! They also ship... and have great gift baskets and WEDDING FAVORS!!! Check out some of their fun stuff.

Needless to say, I wandered through this great shop and was late for dinner. Even though I was early. Oh well. Friends understand these things!

Part 2 of "My Weekend" will continue tomorrow with "Love Lane!" (anyone ever heard of it? Not "Lover's Lane...)

Have a great Monday everyone!

photo booth posters

This Etsy find was just too good not to share... They make a "Classic Vintage photo booth poster design" customized to your wedding.

Becoming more and more popular is having photobooths at your wedding for guests to have fun, and copies are saved for the bride and groom.

What a great idea!

Check out Claremont Road on etsy.

Inspiration Board - Notes of Thanks

(images from Country Living.com)

There are so many creative and inexpensive ways you can customize your tablescape..., wedding or Thanksgiving!

Rubber stamps, paper cut outs, copies of old family photos are all simple and can show your personal style.

The middle photo shows rubber stamped paper napkins..., anyone ever tried this? They look so great, but I wonder if the ink would wipe off onto one's face..., what do you think?

I wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving. Enjoy!

A Cape Cod Wedding

I love Cape Cod. These photos by Karen Wise Photography capture the casual feel of it, don't you think? And who was just talking about "cupcake towers" and using "clothes pins"? Oh, you know who you are! Cute pics...

Number Nuisance

I received an email from a bride who had a problem..., seating arrangements! It is hard enough to go through your list of attendees and fit them all where everyone will get along, etc. Between family feuds and co-workers vs. childhood friends, where should everyone sit?

But one thing she wondered... is it insulting to your guests that are sitting in the last numbered table? (Usually the one nearest the band or the kitchen!!!)

I admit, I always feel a little "less than special" when I am at "table number 14."

Check out some of these pretty and creative ways you can number your table, from MarthaStewart.com. But then check out my winner idea from her site as well! She assigns each table a name. (Hey, did she get this idea from me?)

In this case it is a type of shell (for a beachy wedding.) Then you can either make a sign for each table with that name, or fill a vase with that type of shell to distinguish one table from another.

I got married on Block Island, Rhode Island in 2001. I named each table using names of locations or attractions on the island. ie: The Southeast Lighthouse; The Great Salt Pond; The New Harbor, etc. I then attached the seating cards to our favors (which were jars of local honey) and set them out on display as people entered the reception.

No one feels left out that way!

Men in Skirts

I went to the coolest wedding last night where the groom (and many others) were wearing traditional Scottish Kilts. Not only did all these big men look fantastic, but during the reception they put on a bagpipe show! It brought huge smiles (and some tears) and was absolutely phenomenal!

Personal touches that you can add to your wedding day make it memorable for your guests and create a special feeling for the bride and groom that will last a lifetime.

Any idea what they wear under those skirts??? Hmmm.
