needle + thread + a dress
Anyone making their own wedding dress? Or having one made for them? We want to know!
Also, is anyone having anything special sewn into their dress? My friend got married a few years ago and had her late father's wedding ring sewn into the underside of the bodice. Not for others to see, just for her to know it was close to her...
I cried and cried like such a baby at that wedding. Such an old, dear friend..., now a new mommy!

I haven't done it yet, however I will be sewing my name and wedding date into my gown before I pass it on down to my daughter. I also had the train of my gown made into a baptism gown which she wore, and had HER name sewn into it and then she'll do the same for her daughter and so on and so on... at least I hope she does!
Great ideas... all of them!
(I'm gonna cry again...)

That is so sweet about the ring.
I had a label embroidered up with -
Miss T married Mr B 31st December 2009 on it in blue. My Mum stitched it in the lining on the morning of the wedding. I got it from etsy.
I admit, I was totally against making my own wedding dress. And then, of course, I ended up altering a dress instead. Sometimes I think I should have made my own dress altogether. It's really not so scary if you know what you want. but then again, I don't think I knew what I wanted. hmm.
I designed my dress after a vintage cocktail dress of my late grandmother and a family friend made it for me. I guess I could have made it myself, but I didnt want the stress. It was finished the day before! See pics: http://blog.mcdormanphoto.com/?p=784
