a blue dog and football

I don't know much about football, but when the superbowl came around this year, I just knew I had to cheer for New Orleans!!! Didn't know anything about their history, but knew I loved that magical city!!!

I spent 6 weeks there in July of 1996? 1995? No I think it was '96...

I worked for an insurance company at the time and was down there helping people settle their flood claims...

The people were incredible, the food (that's a whole other post) and the art...

I took tons of personal photos on that trip and have a great one of a musician playing in front of an art gallery. Turns out it was the famous George Rodrigue's... and his Blue Dog has been in my heart ever since.

Shrimp Po Boys?
Blackened Anything?
Gumbo?
Oysters?
Crawfish?

Like I said, the food is for another post...

Fell in love with the city and with all that has happened recently, it has crushed me. I'm glad to say I have been there and that their football team kicked some butt last night!!!

skirts and their muses

Heard of Skirt.com?

It's great. I receive occasional email announcements from them, but their website is so incredibly fun!!! "All about women..., their work, play families, creativity, style, health and wealth, bodies and souls... skirt! is an attitude"

Also, check out their newest print issue cover by Trisha Krauss...

Her story below is from here.

"Trisha Krauss is an American illustrator based in London. She began her career in New York City where she established herself as an award-winning illustrator. Her work has appeared in many publications, advertising campaigns and books. In New York she was known for her figurative illustrations that were painted on plywood. This style obtained recognition for its sophistication and wit. In London she has expanded stylistically by painting with watercolor and ink, and this offers her more versatility in subject matter. She is also commissioned regularly to hand-paint customized family portraits on Russian dolls and sells them to clients all over the world.

Hector, her beloved Weimaraner and muse, passed away over the summer, and she wants the universe—or at least any one who reads this—to know that he is devastatingly missed. Being without a muse is not amusing...not even a little bit.

You can contact Trisha at trisha@trishakrauss.com or see more of her work at trishakrauss.com."

We lost our beloved doggie of 12 years almost a year ago. I feel your pain Trish and wish you some comfort this holiday season.
